WHY IS LIFE SO HARD?
“Because no one said it would be easy”
We just don’t know how to deal with it.
I’ll give you my friend’s example. She had a healthy body, no diseases, and was preparing for UPSC with big dreams. Everything was going smoothly. Then, suddenly, her father passed away. Being the eldest, she had to step up. She took a private school job, earning just 12K, and started supporting her entire family of five. Her younger brother, instead of helping, stole her money to play online games. She lost weight, from 60 kg to 37 kg. She got TB. Her dreams shattered before her eyes. She suffered. She cried. But she never gave up. Even now, she’s still fighting.
This is what life is. It’s not about being easy or hard. It’s about how we think. If we sit and cry over our misfortunes, life feels impossible. But if we keep going, we realize it’s just another journey.
A month ago, I was the same. Seeing my mother suffer used to break me. I questioned God ,are we even visible to you? But then I realized that complaining won’t change anything. Thinking about how hard life is will only make me weaker, more anxious, and miserable. Instead, if I just keep moving, if I accept life as it comes, I find peace.
What’s meant to happen will happen. No one can stop it. The only choice we have is to break down or face it head-on.
We all want smooth roads when we travel, but think about it—when we finally reach our destination, would we even feel like we’ve travelled? No. But if the roads were rough, if there were obstacles, if we struggled, fought, and found our way through, reaching the destination would mean something. It wouldn’t just be a journey. It would be an experience.
A journey that teaches you that some people you crave aren’t meant to be with you.
A journey where choosing easy roads gives small wins, but tough roads give big lessons.
A journey that makes you accept your flaws instead of running from them.
A journey that forces you to be patient with life.
So no, life is not hard. It just demands that we learn how to live it.
