  • THE HARSH TRUTHS OF ADULT LIFE.

THE HARSH TRUTHS OF ADULT LIFE.

What is it that nobody tells you about adult life?

That adult life is much, much better than childhood.

If you find yourself thinking the opposite, you are romanticising “not having any responsibility” while ignoring the other side of it, which does not have any freedom!

As a child, your happiness was totally dependent on the adults around you. Whereas as an adult, you are responsible for your own happiness, and it’s simply great!

While it’s true that things are simpler in childhood, that’s also because your perception of things is simpler, primarily because you are a child and aren’t capable of grasping life in all its nuances. As an adult, this changes. You realise the context of most things sometimes to your own peril. You also risk complicating things.

But that’s the best part of being an adult. That it’s all on you. If you complicate things, you are free to sort them out instead of depending on someone else.

Life only gets better steadily! With experience.

Relationships get better with experience. Communication gets better with experience. Sex gets better with experience. You understand that love is a practice and a verb. It is also hard work.

With age, your edges smoothen, and you learn the value of kindness and compassion above intelligence and logic. You realise that more things are likely to work out with love than with arguments, however brilliant! This makes you a better person.

Your manner of dealing with conflict gets better with age. Your manner of handling disappointments, hardships, and sorrows gets better with age.

You realise how temporary most of your feelings are, with age. With a little more age, you realise the same is true of your thoughts. With age, you learn to therefore take yourself much less seriously.

With age, you also learn one of the biggest lessons your younger self usually misses – there is no ultimate meaning to life. Your life will be what you make of it. It is on you to give it meaning.

As an adult, you don’t need anybody’s permission, and you can live your life on your own terms. You have complete freedom along with the intelligence and maturity to understand that freedom comes with responsibility – something I am sure your teenage self would love to realise.

Adult life is great. I’d rather be an adult than a child. Any day.

  •   OWN THE NIGHT, RULE THE DAY.

OWN THE NIGHT, RULE THE DAY.

What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

    Purpose, not passion.

I’m passionate about a lot of things. Those of you who know me well know my obsession with food, watching movies, and writing stories. However, these are not what wake me up every morning.
Purpose is what gets you started; passion is what keeps you going.

healthy daily morning routine starts the night before!!

You need to make sure that you are sleeping on time in order to achieve 7–8hrs of sleep.

To figure the time you need to wake up at, you need to ask yourself questions like WHAT are the activities that you would like to do in the morning?

You may find huge lists of such activities that you “should” do but I believe that each person is different and a healthy morning routine of one person might be a nightmare for another, instead we want it to be totally opposite.

    WHAT ACTIVITIES SHOULD YOU DO?

The ones that you enjoy or bring you closer to your goals.

So sit down and think about your life goals and interests. Is it to start your own business or work on a hobby? Then reserve some time for that. Do you want to be fit and healthy? What kinds of exercises do you enjoy? Is it strength training, running, dancing, yoga? Reserve some time for that. Do you like to learn something new every day? Do you like to read books? Reserve some time for that. Are you living away from your parents and don’t usually get time to talk to them but would love to? Reserve some time for that. I think you get the picture 🙂

DO YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP EARLY OR YOU CAN DO THEM IN EVENING?

Figure out your most energetic/productive time.

Once you know the activities you like/enjoy to do or need to do in order to achieve your goals, you need to ask yourself what time of the day you are most productive. As much as I support waking up early in morning and be productive, I also believe that for a lot of people it is next to impossible but they find it pretty easy to do these things in the evening as they feel very productive and energetic at that time.

So think about these questions, analyze your current behaviour, mood, and patterns, and still, if you are unable to answer all of them, just try different things. Try reading a book. Try different forms of exercising every time to find out your favourites. Try waking up 15 minutes earlier than usual and see how it affects you or your activities.

  •     LIFE IS DAMN HEAVY & TOUGH.

LIFE IS DAMN HEAVY & TOUGH.

                 WHY IS LIFE SO HARD?

“Because no one said it would be easy”

We just don’t know how to deal with it.

I’ll give you my friend’s example. She had a healthy body, no diseases, and was preparing for UPSC with big dreams. Everything was going smoothly. Then, suddenly, her father passed away. Being the eldest, she had to step up. She took a private school job, earning just 12K, and started supporting her entire family of five. Her younger brother, instead of helping, stole her money to play online games. She lost weight, from 60 kg to 37 kg. She got TB. Her dreams shattered before her eyes. She suffered. She cried. But she never gave up. Even now, she’s still fighting.

This is what life is. It’s not about being easy or hard. It’s about how we think. If we sit and cry over our misfortunes, life feels impossible. But if we keep going, we realize it’s just another journey.

A month ago, I was the same. Seeing my mother suffer used to break me. I questioned God ,are we even visible to you? But then I realized that complaining won’t change anything. Thinking about how hard life is will only make me weaker, more anxious, and miserable. Instead, if I just keep moving, if I accept life as it comes, I find peace.

What’s meant to happen will happen. No one can stop it. The only choice we have is to break down or face it head-on.

We all want smooth roads when we travel, but think about it—when we finally reach our destination, would we even feel like we’ve travelled? No. But if the roads were rough, if there were obstacles, if we struggled, fought, and found our way through, reaching the destination would mean something. It wouldn’t just be a journey. It would be an experience.

A journey that teaches you that some people you crave aren’t meant to be with you.
A journey where choosing easy roads gives small wins, but tough roads give big lessons.
A journey that makes you accept your flaws instead of running from them.
A journey that forces you to be patient with life.

So no, life is not hard. It just demands that we learn how to live it.
